Mean Green Takes 2nd!!!

(If you received an email from me today, this is the same thing, so save your time & stop reading.)

Warning--- A total bragging just ahead!
After a great season of baseball, Ryan's team, MEAN GREEN, came in 2nd place in their division. Although they didn't finish first place in the play offs, they ended the season with the best overall record. Including play off games, their record was 15 wins, 4 losses, 1 tie. They did an awesome job & we are all SO proud of them.
Play offs was double elimination. They lost their first play off game through no fault of their own; the coach didn't have his stuff together, didn't make sure everyone knew about the game & we were 3 players short. They still did good though, considering. They then played 4 games in about 18 hours; two games Friday 6-2-06 night & two games Saturday 6-3-06 morning. They won the first 3 of these games. The team they played against in the 4th game, they had to beat twice to take 1st place. They lost to them, so that finished the tournament.
We found out early in the season that Ryan was the youngest player on the team. The other boys were 8 & 8 1/2 (some pushing 9), while Ryan just turned 7 in April. He held his own with no problem & was the only player on the team to get MVP 3 times this season. Alot of the others only got it once. He was on the coach's All-Stars list, but was not chosen by either of the All-Stars coaches. He was told they usually choose the older kids who will be moving up to play on the All-Stars teams, but to keep playing how he did this season & he will definitely be on an All-Stars team next year. (they don't do All-Stars in the fall.) We told him even though he didn't make the team, he is, without a doubt, an All-Star. :-)
He's bummed now that season is over & can't wait til September, when fall ball will start. From as early as we can remember, Ryan has loved baseball & I'm convinced that if he keeps the passion for it that he has now, we'll be watching him on tv some day. Mark my words................
